The Miss Kentucky Teen America Organization is looking for young women that possess the entire package of personality, poise, intelligence, and beauty to represent the Bluegrass State!  This page features the judging criteria for the Miss Kentucky Teen America and Miss Kentucky Junior Teen America titles!

CATEGORIES OF COMPETITION
INTERVIEW- 25%
Interview is your chance to show them what you are made of! Each contestant will need to wear business attire, such as a dress or suit. The interview will be panel style and is designed to give judges the chance to learn about the contestant’s personality, successes, hobbies, talents, goals, community involvement, and ambitions. Attention is focused on poise, charm, self-confidence and her ability to communicate, as well as the substance of answers.

TALENT OR SPOKESMODEL- 25%
TALENT- When it comes to talent, do what you do best. Be it singing, dancing, playing an instrument, giving a monologue, or any other creative talent, just be sure to enjoy yourself! Judging will end at two minutes. Minimal props allowed provided that the contestant can carry the prop to the stage when she enters for her performance.  Contact director@misskentuckyteenamerica.com if you need approval for your props.  A cordless microphone and stand will be available.  Cordless head-sets not available but are allowed if provided by the contestant.
OR
SPOKESMODEL- Contestants who choose to exhibit their writing and public speaking talents have the option of presenting a speech. Spokesmodel performances can be about anything from your hometown to your favorite product, or in support of a special cause. Use your imagination and be creative! Speeches must be a minimum of one minute long, and may not exceed two minutes.

*There is no comparative judging. Every performance will be scored based on appeal and execution according to the specific discipline or category. For example, a vocalist, spokes model, and tap dancer can all earn the same score.
PHYSICAL FITNESS- 25%
Teen Contestants- Fitness in Swimsuit
Runway modeling of conservative, one-piece solid color swimsuit; No mesh, no cutouts, and no panty hose allowed. Contestants are asked to bring a coordinating sarong or piece of sheer fabric to wear or carry.  If contestant opts not to wear the sarong she will carry it at her side.  Shoes should be taupe/skin tones or clear. Judges consider contestants physical fitness and the confidence with which each contestant carries herself, as well as the beauty of face and figure.

Junior Teen Contestants- Fitness in Aerobic Wear
Runway modeling of an aerobic wear outfit. This may include shorts, skorts, fitted tanks, etc. Sneakers should be worn with attire. Judges will be looking for the individual who is physically fit, energetic and healthy, with a strong sense of self-esteem. Contestants do not prepare a fitness routine as all contestants will be taught the same walking pattern on pageant weekend.  No props allowed.

EVENINGWEAR- 25%
This is your final moment in the spotlight! Attire should be a full-length formal gown of contestants choosing. The contestant’s overall appearance, self-confidence, and sense of style are considered. Contestants are free to accessorize as they wish, however we ask that they do not wear a headpiece or tiara during the eveningwear competition, as this would interfere with the crowning of the new queen.
